High-end designs are easily accessible to the general public and reupholstering a piece with good bones makes all the sense in the world.On my recent NYC trip I had the chance to hit many showrooms and see large samples of the best fabrics. These fabrics are often my jumping off point for a project. You can find a paint color to match anything but finding the perfect mix of colors or pattern in a fabric is more difficult to do.

Fabric is versatile
From changing the look of a piece of your favorite chair, sewing pillows to creating statement wall pieces, there’s no limit to the way you can use fabric in the world of interior design.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1327″][vc_column_text]
Fabric Drapes
Drapes are my probably my favorite application. It’s hard to beat good, well-made panel drapes. They are classic and dramatic, while framing the view and warming the space. For a more subtle use (and definitely more cost effective) you can make a pillow. Using one fabric to tie in all the colors of a space is great way to create a cohesive look.

Fabric Walls
For those that are really daring, cover your walls in it! It’s hard to use too much. What’s great about working with a decorator or designer is they can sample and preview the fabrics. Therefore, you can play with options before committing to putting the room together. Put it on a chair! It’s less commitment than a sofa (which I like a colorful sofa too), but a chair is a good way to add drama and make a statement in your house. No matter what you do most likely, you will be ready for refresh in your home in 15 years. So committing to color on a good piece of furniture is not like committing to marriage. It’s ok because you can enjoy the piece for years and then recover. Don’t be scared, go for it.
Not able to paint all your walls kelly green, ok then do your ceiling! It’s a safer place, but the unexpected element of the ceiling being decorated makes it extra special. Do a bold color or wallpaper for a fun mix of colors and pattern.
Can’t talk you into those bold moves – add pillows and throws. Now, these are not throw away items either especially if you find that special fabric but, it is a great way to add piazza without scaring the family. And it’s amazing what a few pillows and a few well-placed throws can do for a room.You may not have time to make significant decor changes or large home renovations before the holidays, but you can make a difference in your space.
